Anees Pretorius is a “recovering accountant” and the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder at Bean, a SaaS-managed marketplace for specialized accounting services. Driven to elevate the accounting and finance profession into a digital age after his experience in the industry, Anees launched Bean to offer the world’s first digital accounting firm and the largest provider of accounting services— without employing a single accountant.
Before Bean, Anees led audit teams at Deloitte, worked as a consultant for Fortune 1000 companies to assist in their assurance practices, and held leadership roles where he implemented strategic strategies focused on technology and transactions (IPO, Divestitures, M&A). While at Deloitte, he transferred from his home in South Africa to San Francisco, and the proverbial veil was lifted after moving to the biggest economy in the world (the U.S.). It inspired him to think bigger about what is possible within accounting and financial services, and Anees coined the company name Bean as an homage to the “beancounters, ” or accountants, he grew up around in Africa.
