Android OS Gets Enterprise Security Enhancement
Security is quickly climbing to the top of the list of major operational issues within the enterprise mobility function. Codeproof Technologies will be a familiar name to many from its partnership inked with Google to integrate the Google Playstore and Google EMM APIs within its platform.
It comes as no surprise that Codeproof has been working on further security upgrades for Google’s Android for Work platform.
Virginia-based Codeproof works with many small- and mid-sized enterprises around the world, addressing their SaaS enterprise mobile security issues. Its core expertise is helping companies to secure, deploy and manage mobile applications – as well as secure sensitive corporate data on various mobile and IoT devices.
Since the launch of Android marshmallow, Google has built powerful enterprise mobility management controls in the Android operating system. Codeproof is extending these controls so that enterprise customers can receive a seamless and modern mobile device management and mobile application management experience.
The new launch means that mobile enterprises can provision and manage all brands of Android devices from a central cloud-based dashboard.
The changes represented by Codeproof signal many of the best practices for effective security management. For example, IT administrators will be empowered to whitelist/blacklist applications in individual and collective devices, including blocking of pre-installed default non- business apps.
IT administrators can also remotely control device hardware component policies pertaining to the likes of USB, WiFi, GPS, Developer Mode, camera and several others. Work and personal container separation means IT administrators can also manage BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) with work-related and personal apps sitting in different containers. This can improve corporate security by separating data between business and personal apps.
