Spiceworks Network Grows to 2.5 Million IT Professionals and 1,800 Technology Vendors

Spiceworks users spend more than $450 billion on technology each year

LONDON and AUSTIN, Texas – May 16, 2013 – Today at the sold out, second annual SpiceWorld London user conference, Spiceworks CEO Scott Abel shared a number of important company milestones that solidify Spiceworks’ position as the network where IT professionals and technology vendors go to do their jobs. The Spiceworks network now includes 2.5 million IT professionals who work in 1.5 million companies, as well as over 1,800 technology vendors representing every major technology segment.

“We’ve built a unique, high growth business that benefits IT professionals and the technology vendors they rely on to do their jobs,” said Scott Abel, co-founder and CEO of Spiceworks. “Together with Spiceworks users and technology companies, we’ve collectively built the world’s largest network for IT that’s directly influencing how hundreds of billions of dollars are spent each year.”

Growing Network Drives Opportunities for Technology Brands

IT professionals use Spiceworks to simplify daily IT tasks, manage their network, connect with peers, and learn about the latest technology products and services. Spiceworks’ 2.5 million users support more than 84 million employees worldwide and spend over $450 billion on new technology products and services each year. They collectively manage 150 million network devices and spent 4.5 billion minutes in Spiceworks in 2012, up from 2.4 billion minutes in 2011. Additionally:

  • Users have written nearly 80,000 product reviews of business-to-business technology products and services.
  • IT professionals have built more than 250 technology plugins to extend the functionality of Spiceworks. Plugins have been downloaded more than 650,000 times.
  • Technology vendors including Rackspace, Microsoft, Mozy, LogMeIn, Dropbox and others have integrated their products and services with Spiceworks to provide IT professionals with a “single pane of glass” they can use to manage the technologies in their environment.

Also at SpiceWorld, the company provided a preview of Spiceworks 7 and announced a new partnership with Fiberlink that will bring its MaaS360 mobile device management platform to Spiceworks 7. The announcement builds upon the November 2012 introduction of the Spiceworks Cloud Program, a new initiative that gives cloud vendors the opportunity to integrate their services into Spiceworks. Together, Spiceworks is giving IT professionals the tools they need to manage on-premise, cloud and mobile environments — for free.

Technology Brands Reach IT Professionals While They Work

Technology marketers from startup and established technology brands have partnered with Spiceworks to reach IT professionals in the network, test new products and marketing campaigns, and engage with the professionals who use Spiceworks to do their jobs.

More than 1,800 technology companies now participate in Spiceworks, up 80 percent over the last year, and the number of vendors with a Spiceworks Vendor Page has increased more than 150% percent in the last 12 months. Spiceworks Vendor Pages have been followed 3 million times, up from 939,000 times a year ago.
